If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be?

Good morning from Deck 7 Aft. The sky is glorious, the sea is expansive and the Bloody Mary is delicious. There are so many possibilities that I could tell myself, but at the end of the day there is only one message I wish I could give her.
If I could go back and give my younger self one piece of advice, I would tell her not to spend so much time worrying about what other people think of her.
Too many nights, I laid awake replaying conversations and interactions, searching for something I might have said wrong or wondering what the other person thought of me. I wish I could tell that younger version of myself to let those moments go. She didn’t need to keep shrinking herself to fit what she imagined other people wanted.
I would tell her to be herself, even when it feels easier to blend in or hold back. She is allowed to take up space. She doesn’t have to earn the right to be comfortable in her own skin.
Be you, I’d tell her. And be proud of being you.
