Which celebrity would you love to meet, and what would you talk about?

Greetings from Gran Canaria, I have my coffee and a relaxing day planned.  Las Palmas looks enticing, and I look forward to discovering what’s out there.

If I could meet one celebrity, I think I would choose Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet a few celebrities. Some were wonderful, and some were asshats. Both kinds of experiences stay with you. You can build a picture of someone in your mind, then meet the real person and find out they don’t match your expectations.
There are a few people I’d be happy to meet. Jason Momoa and Tom Hanks seem warm and down to earth. I’d enjoy talking with authors like Nora Roberts or Gloria Naylor. But being famous isn’t what makes someone interesting to me. I really enjoy meeting an Average Joe and discovering who they are without any expectations getting in the way.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be different. I’d want to hear about her experiences and the cases she heard, especially those involving women, children, BIPOC, and others whose rights are too often overlooked. I’d ask what she thought about the state of the courts and our political climate. I’d want to hear what concerned her, what gave her hope, and which cases stayed with her long after they were over.
More than anything, I’d want to listen. I think she would have been a wonderful person to sit with and talk to, not because she was a celebrity, but because of the life she lived, the work she did, and the way she thought about justice.

Now, I’m off to meet some Average Joes and see what the island has to offer.
