Mabon is coming, and I’ve been looking around the Grove wondering what this year has grown.
There’s the blog, for one. I finally opened the porch and started putting my words out where other people can find them. There are books in the world that used to exist only in my head. There are conversations here I might once have been too afraid to start.
And there’s Becky, who would like it entered into the official record that she needs a bigger pot. I hear you, Becky.
The autumn equinox feels like a good time to take stock. I want to be grateful for what grew without pretending everything I hoped for came to harvest. Some plans are still plans. Some things took longer than I wanted. Some things surprised the hell out of me.
I can sit with all of that.
Maybe I’ll light a candle and have something good to eat. Maybe I’ll go outside and listen to the trees. I’ll certainly take a moment to thank the people who have come to this porch, read a story, and stayed to talk.
That’s enough of a celebration for me. Notice what’s here. Welcome the changing season. Leave room for a little magic.
And, Becky, before I leave for Barcelona, we’re going to discuss your real estate.
