Tell us about your morning routine.

Good morning from the Grove, where the coffee is hot and the day is just beginning to stir. A morning routine?
I have one, though it isn’t a complicated list of tasks to conquer before the day gets going. On an ordinary morning, I begin with a gratitude prayer. Then I stretch, make my coffee, and settle in with the prompt. It’s a gentle way to ease myself into the day, with a little space to notice what I’m grateful for, wake up my body, and see what my thoughts have to say.
Coffee is the constant. The rest of the routine can shift when life has other plans, but that cup of coffee is part of how I meet the morning. And gratitude comes right along with it. Some days, the prayer is simple. Some days, I have more to say. Either way, taking a moment to acknowledge the good in my life helps me start from a steadier place.
An early appointment can rearrange everything. Those mornings don’t follow the usual rhythm, and that’s all right. A routine should make a day feel a little more grounded, not turn into one more thing to feel behind on. When there’s time, I return to the familiar pattern: gratitude, stretching, coffee, and a prompt.
I like that my morning routine leaves room for both intention and curiosity. I don’t have to know exactly what the day will bring before I begin. I can start with gratitude, give myself a moment to stretch, and let the coffee do its important work. Then I can see where the prompt takes me
